GOE Day

GOE Day, or National Growth. Overcome. Empower. Day is typically observed annually on the Sunday of the first full weekend in October to honor survivors of abuse and trauma through art, storytelling, and community healing.

Founded by My CARE Initiative in 2015, GOE Day uses creativity and safe connection as catalysts for post-traumatic growth. The GOE ribbon combines purple (domestic and emotional violence), teal (sexual assault), and dark blue (child abuse) to highlight the interconnected nature of trauma. The day amplifies healing through art workshops, reflection spaces, community actions, and public programming designed to build empathy and wellness.

The colors of the GOE Day ribbon are:

  • Purple – Domestic Violence
  • Teal – Sexual Assault Awareness
  • Dark Blue – Child Abuse prevention

Our GOE Day ribbon links all of these colors because often these are interconnected. Our awareness of these and other types of abuse allows us to stand together and promote healing and justice and not ignorance and fear.

Together, the GOE 4ward Movement and GOE Day offer both a sustained journey and a powerful annual anchor in the pursuit of resilience, rest, and radical restoration.
